In the overlooked alleyways and Shopping malls
relics left from Before the fall
of this great city to industrialization
a victim of our civilization
we were wiped away clean by the hand of acquisition
buildings and blocks now a rusty apparition
Now we’re left with Our empty streets
A mass exodus Sealed our defeat
As they packed up their carsTo head out west,
More jobs we’re opening As they pressed themselves
Into the suburbs And into new lives
New jobs for husbands And gossip for wives
Slowly removing From where they came
Until it becomes just a name
on the tip of their tongue but forgetting
always finding problems with offsetting
the lack of culture they move on
